Membership Categories and Requirements
|
|
The
members of the Society shall be classified into the following:
1. Associate Member (Application
Form)
2. Regular Member (Application
Form)
3. Diplomate (Application
Form)
4. Fellow
5. Life Member
6. Emerius Fellow
7. Honorary Fellow
1. Associate Member.
a. Any physician in Microbiology and Infectious
Diseases and desirous of furthering the objectives of the Society may
become an associate member of the Society after approval of his/her application
by the Board of Councils upon the favorable recommendation of the Committee
on Membership. An associate member can participate in the activities
of the Society and enjoy the privileges of a regular member but cannot
vote nor be elected to any office of the Society.
b. Requirements.
The candidate for Associate Member:
1. Must be a Filipino
citizen or citizens of other countries with reciprocity.
2. Must be a holder
of a Medical Degree (M.D.).
3. Must have passed
the licensure examination given by the
Philippine Medical Board of Examiners.
4. Must submit
evidences of above requirements together with
the ff:
a. 2 photographs, passport size
b. Name and address of a sponsoring Fellow form whom
information regarding the applicant may be obtained
c. Payment of application fee as determined by the Board of
Councils
c. Annual dues.
The annual dues of Associate Members shall be determined by the Board
of Councils and such dues may be adjusted by the same as the need arises.
2. Regular member.
a. An associate member in good standing
who has at least 2 years training in microbiology an/or infectious diseases
in a program accredited by the PSMID may become a regular member of this
Society after approval of his/her application for membership by the Board
of Councils of the Society, upon the favorable recommendation of the Committee
on Membership. A regular member can participate in the activities
of the Society and vote during the elections but cannot be elected to
any office of the Society.
b. Requirements.
The candidate for Regular Member must submit
the ff.
1. Requirements
under Article X, Section 1, b
2. Certificate
of Associate Membership.
3. Certificate
of at least 2 years of training in Microbiology
and/or Infectious Diseases in a recognized institution
accredited by the Philippine Specialty Board of Microbiology
and Infectious Diseases.
c. Annual dues.
The annual dues of Regular Members shall be determined by the Board of
Councils and such dues may be adjusted by the same as the need arises.
3. Diplomate.
a. A Regular Member in good standing who
has satisfied the requirements of the Society may become a Diplomate in
Clinical Microbiology (for Pathologist/Microbiologists) or a Dipomate
in Infectious Diseases (for Clinicians)
They shall be entitled to attach the titles Diplomate in
Clinical Microbiology or Diplomate in Infectious Diseases after their
names.
b. Requirements.
1. A candidate
for Diplomate must submit the following:
a. Requirements under Article X, section 1,b
b. Certificate of Regular Membership
c. Certificate of Post-Graduate Residency Training in }
Internal Medicine, Pathology or Microbiology or any
post-doctoral residency program in institutions
accredited by their respective specialties.
d. Certificate of at least 2 years Post-Residency Fellowship
training in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in a
program accredited by the Philippine Specialty Board of
Microbiology and Infectious Disease OR in a foreign
training program acceptable to the PSMID.
2. A candidate
for Diplomate must have passed the qualifying examination (Written and
Laboratory) of the Philippine Specialty Board of Microbiology and Infectious
Diseases.
c. Annual Dues.
The annual dues of Diplomates shall be determined by the Board of Councils
and such dues may be adjusted by the same as the need arises.
4. Fellow
a. A diplomate in good standing for at
least 2 years, upon application and approval by the Board of Councils
upon the recommendation of the Specialty Board OR any regular member upon
assumption of Full Professorial rank, may become a Fellow of the Society.
b. Requirements.
The applicant for the Fellow must submit the following:
1. Certificate
of Diplomate status OR promotion to the Rank of
Full Professor.
2. Payment
application fee.
3. Certification
from at least 2 Fellows in good standing that the
training and experience of the applicant meet the
requirements and standards of the Society and its Specialty
Board.
c. Annual dues.
The annual dues of Fellows shall be determined by the Board of Councils
and such dues may be adjusted by the same as the need arises.
5. Life Member
Fellows in good standing for at least two years may elect to become life
members by paying the prescribed fee which shall be decided upon from
time to time. He shall be exempt from the annual dues of the Society.
6. Emeritus Fellow
Fellows in good standing reaching the age of 65 whether active or no longer
in the active practice of Microbioogy and/or Infectious Diseases upon
application and approval by the Board of Councils thereof. He shall
be exempt from all dues of the Society.
7. Honorary Fellow.
Elected by the Council as a distinct honor for the services rendered in
the field of Microbiology and/or Infectious Diseases. He shall exempt
from all dues of the Society.
